Now\, acclaimed performer and musician Jason Petty\, along with his four-piece band\, is bringing the authentic and insightful story of Hank Williams Sr. to life in Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes. \nJason Petty made a striking impression on New York’s Theatre District\, starring in “Hank Williams: Lost Highway” which played for nine months to sold out audiences at the Little Shubert Theater. Audiences and critics alike were taken aback by Petty’s amazing acting ability in his portrayal of Hank Williams\, ultimately honoring Petty with an OBIE Award (Off Broadway’s Tony Award equivalent) for “Outstanding Actor”.  \nIn Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes\, Petty gives audiences a personal look at Williams growing up\, how he became famous\, who influenced the legendary singer /songwriter\, and performers today who are influenced by Williams. \nBacked by a four-piece band\, just like Williams performed\, the show is chock full of Hank’s hits from ‘Your Cheatin’ Heart‘ and ‘I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry‘\, to ‘Hey Good Lookin‘ and ‘Lovesick Blues‘.   \nNot only will the great songs of Hank Williams Sr. be performed but audiences will also be treated to a selection of songs from some of Hank’s influences (including Jimmie Rodgers\, Carter Family\, Roy Acuff and Ernest Tubb)\,  and those who were influenced by Hank  (including George Jones\, Webb Pierce\, Faron Young\, Elvis Presley\, and Alan Jackson). “Will the Circle Be Unbroken“\, Wine Me Up” and “Midnight in Montgomery” are just a few of such selections included in the set.   \nGoing back to the beginning when Hank Williams was given his very first guitar\, all the way to how the legend made a lasting impression on popular music\, “Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes” plays to sold-out houses across the country from Broadway to Nashville and keeps audiences clapping their hands and stomping their feet. \nThis Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center tour stop is sponsored by Woodside Senior Communities. \n

She’s won three national trophies; she played in the ‘76 Olympics; she was drafted to the NBA. But have you ever heard of Lucy Harris? \nFrom director Ben Proudfoot and executive producers Shaquille O’Neal and Stephen Curry\, The Queen of Basketball is an Academy Award® winning\, electrifying portrait of Lusia “Lucy” Harris\, a peerless pioneer in women’s basketball. She led a tiny rural Mississippi college to three national titles\, scored the first basket in women’s Olympic history\, was the first and only woman drafted into the NBA\, and in 1992 became one of the first two women inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. \nDespite her incredible accomplishments\, Harris\, who died unexpectedly on January 18 of this year\, remains largely unknown\, even among basketball enthusiasts. \nHere\, she shares her story in her own words.

DESCRIPTION:40th Anniversary Season! \nFree Concert; Donations accepted | General Admission Seating \nLobby Doors open at 6:00pm.  Donations will be accepted following the concert. \nJoin us for the final concert of the 2021-2022 AVB Community Band Concert season! \nThe evening begins with the rousing gallop “They’re Off\,” followed by Stephen Sondheim’s “Comedy Tonight” from the Broadway musical “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” \nBandleader and musician Spike Jones was known for doing spoof arrangements on popular and classical songs. The AVB will celebrate Jones during its humorous “Salute to Spike Jones.” \n“Instant Concert” is the rollicking Harold Walters piece that condenses 30 melodies into an instant performance of about three minutes. Then the saxophone section will be featured in the piece made famous by renowned sax player Boots Randolph\, “Yakety Sax.” \nA medley of the music of Henry Mancini will also be celebrated in “Mancini Magic.” \nFollowing intermission\, the band opens with “Sousa Scramble\,” featuring some of the best of John Philip Sousa – all rearranged for the fun of it. “The Waltzing Cat” is a charming piece\, written by renowned composer Leroy Anderson\, and will be followed up by an audience favorite – “The Chicken Dance.” \nThe evening concludes with the moving piece “Lux Aurumque” and the rousing “Riverdance Finale.” \nPersonal care and cleaning supplies items collected prior to the concert by AmVets Post 11 will be distributed to the following organizations: Transitional Veterans Home in Bellevue\, The Center for Veterans Issues Resource Center and St. John’s Homeless Shelter. \nFormerly known as the Allouez Village Band\, the band rebranded for its 40th anniversary season as the “All Volunteer Band” (AVB) Community Band to better reflect its membership from numerous communities in the area. \nThe AVB Community Band will open its 41st season on Monday\, Sept. 19\, 2022 at the Ashwaubenon PAC.  For more information\, see avbcommunityband.org.
