Green Bay (Oct. 16, 2024) – Officials from TicketStar, the Resch Center, Meyer Theatre, Weidner Center and Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center are urging event goers to make sure they know where they are buying tickets from. TicketStar is the official ticketing agency for all four venues.
An alarming number of customers are mistakenly buying tickets from secondary or scalping sites even when tickets are still available to buy from the venues. Customers do a quick web search and click on sites they believe are the venue. However, when the transaction is completed, if it is legit, customers are paying more for tickets, more for fees, and getting less in customer service. These ticket re-selling sites are simply buying tickets from TicketStar or the venue sites and then re-selling them on their platform. These same sites also claim to be selling tickets to events that are not even on sale yet.
TicketStar, Resch Center, Meyer Theatre, Weidner Center and Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center officials urge customers to search for the official venue sites and buy directly there to avoid being scammed or price gouged. When a customer buys from a secondary site, TicketStar is very limited in the customer service it can provide as all communication about events goes to the original buyer, including event cancellations and reschedules. These inflated prices on secondary sites may also influence a would-be ticket buyer from not purchasing.
