‘Mutts Gone Nuts’ Variety Show Unleashes Canines and Comedy to Promote Animal Adoption

Shelter dogs become stars in this acrobatic act visiting the Ashwaubenon P.A.C. on March 26

Mutts Gone Nuts, a nine-dog comedy thrill show that promotes the adoption of rescue animals will unleash havoc and wholesome hilarity in two performances at the Ashwaubenon P.A.C. on Sunday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Scott and Joan Houghton lead their talented rescue-dogs-turned-performance puppers through a 75-minute theatrical experience that’s fun for the whole family. Attendees will be treated to flying frisbee dogs, tightwire dogs, dancing dogs, magic dogs and the “one and only” Sammie the talking dog.

Sometimes called the “Disorderly Duo,” the Houghtons have brought their unique blend of physical comedy and circus artistry to audiences across the world since 1984, filling theaters from Las Vegas to Tokyo. They spent several years with country star Lee Greenwood at his theater in Tennessee and then as the featured comedy act at Dolly Parton’s theaters in Branson, Orlando and Myrtle Beach. In 1995, they adopted their first rescue dog and began spending time fostering dogs during the off season. Eventually, they turned their full attention to creating a comedy dog act, and Mutts Gone Nuts was off and running!

Trainers for the show ONLY use positive, force-free methods to teach tricks to the dogs. By observing what each dog naturally likes to do, they reinforce that skill with treats, toys and praise. It’s an enriching experience for canine and trainer alike! Some dogs, for example, have a knack for catching frisbees while others are naturally-skilled jumpers.

Praised by The Washington Post as “a must see,” Mutts Gone Nuts is presented in partnership with Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary.

The upcoming performances are sponsored by George Kress Foundation and are part of the Ashwaubenon P.A.C.’s Brodhagen Dental Care Touring Series.

Tickets to Mutts Gone Nuts start at $19 and can be purchased online at ashwaubenonpac.org or by calling (920) 494-3401.
