Iconic ‘Comic of the Year’ to perform her clean routine in Green Bay on Saturday, September 21
Known for her razor-sharp wit and relatable, family-friendly comedy, southern comedian Etta May is set to deliver an unforgettable evening of heartwarming humor and uproarious tales at the Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center (APAC) on September 21, 2024, at 7:30 PM. Tickets will be available starting Monday, July 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Hailed as the “Polyester Princess” or “Queen of Southern Sass,” May reflects on the eccentricities of everyday life by drawing inspiration from those closest to her.
“I just wait for my husband or kids to do something stupid, and then I write it down,” she says.
Before establishing herself as one of the top female comics in the industry, the Arkansas native wandered from dead-end job to dead-end job, including a 10-year stint as a school bus driver. May eventually decided to take a chance on herself and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of making people laugh.
Her unique blend of Southern charm and down-to-earth humor – think “Blue Collar Comedy Tour with better hair and a bigger attitude” – quickly caught on. Now, 25 years later, May continues to entertain crowds at shows across the country.
Winner of the prestigious American Comedy Awards’ “Comic of the Year,” May has brought her energetic stage presence and unique brand of clean comedy to audiences on “Oprah,” Showtime, “Comic Strip Live,” and MTV. She has also appeared as a guest commentator on “CBS Sunday Morning” and is a regular on Sirius-XM comedy channels and the “Bob & Tom” radio show.
Joining May at the APAC event is Carollynn Xavier, “The Recovering Californian.” Known for her clean-cut humor and witty takes on her newfound love of southern life, Xavier’s opening act offers a perfect prelude to May’s headlining show.
Etta May’s upcoming performance is sponsored by KHROME and presented as part of the Ashwaubenon P.A.C.’s Touring Series.
Tickets for Etta May’s performance start at $25 and can be purchased online at ashwaubenonpac.org or by calling (920) 494-3401 beginning July 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
